Epic metal show June 14th and verrry exciting album news

Two things:
1. We are playing our only summer show this Saturday, June 14th at Velvet Lounge. Nihilitia has been laying low in 2008 and this will only be our third DC show of the year. Joining us are the incomparable DEADSEA, who have been getting well-deserved write ups in magazines (Metal Maniacs!) and teenage diaries, no doubt. Also on board are the brutal Hero Destroyed, recently signed to Relapse Records. Rounding out the show are a couple of crazy kids from Maine known as Last Chance to Reason who play experimental, albeit lobster-free, metal. These bands will beat you to a bloody pulp, and then we will gently rub salt in your wounds when we take the stage at the end of the night.

2. In August, we will be recording our full-length debut album with engineer/ producer Joel Hamilton at Studio G in Brooklyn, NY. This is pretty much the best thing that has ever happened to us, and we are deeply grateful for the opportunity to work with such a talented and renowned individual. Joel has taken us under his tattooed wing and become our stonerrock svengali, if you will. Not only has Joel has worked with an impressively diverse range of artists from Talib Kweli to Elvis Costello but he has recorded some of our favorites (Unsane, Made Out of Babies, Marc Ribot, Dixie Witch). We are truly humbled to be added to such a roster of giants. Get an icepack ready now, because when the album comes out this fall, it is going to be a ball buster.

We love ye long time!

Ohio DID Nihilitia

The most exciting thing about tour? We came back bloody, bruised, and still a little buzzed, but nobody died or got arrested! As the Lite FM hit goes: weeee haaaad the time of our lives, and we owe it all to youuuu. . . OHIO!!! Each night of tour was amazing, thanks mostly to the fantastic friends we made and the shredtastic bands that we played with.

Anybody who is wondering what is going on with the Union - don't panic. They are fixing it up and things are looking good. Our tour got off to a mexcellent start in Athens. Many thanks go out to Mr. Leg, Space6oy, and the hugely entertaining Octoberfist for sharing the stage with us.

We owe a huge debt of gratitude to BEAST and DEADSEA for hosting us in Akron and Columbus. It was truly amazing for us to be part of such an awesome lineup this weekend- so diverse, yet so complementary, and totally badass. It was epic, to say the least. Long live BEAST and DEADSEA!!!

Everyone knows how much I love my beloved Ohio, and I think the rest of Nihilitia (and Bob, our trusty road mom) shares that sentiment now. Thanks to everyone who came to shows, opened up your homes to us, bought us drinks, picked up merch, let us hit on your girlfriends, put our picture in the paper, let us borrow gear, complimented our butt in those jeans, gave us pizza, hooked us up with free stuff, rocked out with their soccer scarves out, and otherwise contributed to one of the best weekends of our lives. We love ye long time!

Ohio DOES Nihilitia

Well, shit, folks - we're finally hitting the road! It is Nihilitia's first official "terr" and we are as excited as three fat kids at a Ponderosa buffet. Thanks to everyone who helped make this happen - Adam from Beast, Smitty and Alex from Deadsea, Ben and Scott Winland from the Union. A special thanks goes out to Ben Crowell from Qualms - we will make it out to Chicago next time! There's a lot of people we are looking forward to seeing in Ohio and, of course, we're stoked to make some new mateys. We love ye long time!

The year according to Nihilitia

A belated happy new year to all! There haven't been any updates for a while because my laptop is a glorified cardboard box which doesn't want to work sometimes. Apologies all around.

2008 is shaping up to be a fantastic year for us. Our first show of the year was at Rock and Roll Hotel, opening up for local heavyweights Olympia. It was phenomenal! To those of you who keep apologizing for missing us - shut up! Just get to a show already!

We're finally going to be recording soon, and tour dates are already underway for our spring mini-tours.The initial drawing for our upcoming release (and accompanying merch) by Derrick Nau (of Skeletonwitch fame, and the cutest redhead around - besides Brad) looks fuggin' sweet. I can't wait to see the finished product and I know at least five of you can't either. Stay tuned and stay rad!

Another year

Thank you to everyone who came out to the Velvet Lounge for our last show of 2007! There was so much love with all the gear sharing, guest singing, and beer swilling. It was a great way to cap off a most excellent year.

In January, we expect to head into the recording studio to get our new trax on wax. In the meantime, we have posted rough versions of Lebanese Butcher and Fortnight on our myspace page.

Right now we are booking shows for 2008. For the first time, we'll be taking our sea shantys on the road! If you live in New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, or Ohio, expect to see our ugly mugs at yer local dive sometime in the spring. Please get in touch with us if you can help with setting up a show in your town. Take it sleazy and see you next yarrr!

Back to Velvet

Its about damn time we returned to the Velvet Lounge. If you didn't already know, it has the best sound system in DC - boomy, warm, clear. . . it reminds me of the sound at Nyabinghi ( r.i.p). Sharing the bill that night are Salome (doom-fuggin'-tastic) and the always whiskey-soaked Death by Sexy. Come to the show and bring some candy for Brad.
